About Me
Hello! I'm Nickolas Bartel. I was raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and completed my Bachelor's degree at Washington & Jefferson College in Washington, Pennsylvania, about 40 minutes south of Pittsburgh. I graduated Summa Cum Laude with triple majoring in Political Science, Environmental Studies, and Spanish with a minor in Latin American Studies.
I studied abroad with a host family in Fall 2022 in San Ramón, Costa Rica, at the University of Costa Rica at the Sede de Occidente campus. While traveling around the country, such as to Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve (where I am in the picture!), I also researched social factors leading to the widespread national sense of environmentalism by using survey data and interviewing Costa Rican government officials and environmental lawyers in Spanish.

I am in the final year of my Master of Public Policy & Management program at Heinz College in Carnegie Mellon University. With my environmental background, I am working on an Environmental Policy concentration to prepare me for post-graduation.

When not in the classroom or working on environmental policy, I enjoy nature photography, cooking, reading, and being outside. Thank you for stopping by! Please feel free to reach out to me on LinkedIn, and I should get back to you within a day or so!
